TRAINING SET FOR SCOUTERS “Train the trainers” will be the theme carried out by Robert W. Perin of the national staff of the Boy Scouts of America, when he conducts meetings with Arrowhead Area Council Scouters Tuesday to Friday. According to Raymond A. Pingel, leadership training chairman for the Council, Perin will devote his time to teaching volunteer Scouters how to conduct leadership training courses.
Perin’s visit will open with a meeting of the Council’s Leadership Training Committee Tuesday evening. The session, which is a 6 :30 dinner meeting, will take place at the Antlers Hotel in San Bernardino. Plans for training of volunteer Scouters throughout .Arrowhead Area Council will be outlined.
On Wednesday, Perin will meet with Cub Scouting trainers at the Victorville Elementary School, while a session for Boy Scout and Explorer trainers will be held at Barstow High School Thursday evening.
On Friday evening, the national leader will conduct a training session for Valley Scouters in the Jefferson School Auditorium at the corner of Sixth Street and Mountain View Avenue in San Bernardino. The session is set for 7:30 p.m. Invitations have been extended by Pingel to a number of Scouters who are willing to serve as course instructors in the future.
The Friday meeting is a combined one for Cub Scouters, Boy Scouters and Explorer Scouters. Pingel pointed out that service m a leadership capacity at training courses counts toward the Scouters Training Award and the Scouters’ Key, top recognitions in Scouting’s three-year training program for volunteers.
